Diablo II fans, get ready; Ladder Season 9 is just around the corner! Blizzard is set to launch a new season filled with fresh opportunities to climb the leaderboards and uncover the most powerful gears.
Let’s see what we know so far about this season, including release dates, gameplay changes, and what to expect from the latest patch.
When does Diablo 2: Resurrected Ladder Season 9 start?
Depending on your region, the new Ladder Season begins on the following dates and times:
North America: December 6, 2024, at 5 PM PST / 8 PM ET
Europe: December 7, 2024, at 2 AM CEST / 1 AM GMT
Asia: December 7, 2024, at 10 AM KST
Save the date, as the fiery depths of Hell are ready to challenge you to save the world from evil once again.
What’s New in Ladder Season 9?
Just like previous seasons, Season 9 will require players to create a fresh character to fully experience the seasonal features. This is a key part of the Diablo experience, giving players a clean slate to dive into the updated gameplay.
Item Management
If you’re carrying over from Season 8, here’s a heads-up:
Ladder characters will be converted to Non-Ladder characters once the season ends.
Items left in the shared stash will go into a special “Withdraw Only” tab. Make sure to retrieve anything you want to keep, as items from older tabs (like Season 7) will be permanently deleted.
Take some time to organize your inventory before the season starts to avoid losing valuable loot.
Seasonal gameplay modes
Diablo 2: Resurrected Ladder Season 9 introduces four gameplay modes, each tailored to different playstyles:
Pre-Expansion Ladder
Experience the original four acts from the base game, offering a nostalgic return to Diablo II’s roots.
Pre-Expansion Hardcore Ladder
The same four-act adventure, but with the added tension of permadeath, where every decision counts.
Ladder
All five acts, enhanced with the Lord of Destruction expansion content for a more complete experience.
Hardcore Ladder
The true test of skill and endurance; permadeath across all five acts. One wrong move, and it’s over.
Choose the mode that best suits your playstyle and start the action right upon the release!
What’s Changing in Patch 2.8.0?
Patch 2.8.0 will go live on December 3, just ahead of the new season. Here are the key updates:
Gameplay Fixes
• Resolved a bug where monsters and players/mercenaries with the same aura level caused unintended effects.
• User Interface Improvements
• Movement directions can now be customized with key bindings.
These updates bring small but notable improvements to the game, even though many of us already consider it a “finished” game.
Chasing Glory on the Leaderboards
The key highlight of the resets is that Ladder Seasons represent the competitive rush to reach Level 99. Diablo 2: Resurrected Ladder Season 9 is no exception, offering players another shot at etching their names into the Leaderboard. This is your chance to prove your skills and get a mass collection of rarest loot.
