The 4-2-2-2 is one of the most attacking tactics within EAFC 25 Ultimate Team. This formation is used by a countless number of players due to its effectiveness in putting the ball in the back of the net. The formation provides the user with the perfect formation to adopt a high-press tactic against the opponent, once you master the 4-2-2-2, you could be seeing a lot of rage quits in your upcoming games.

So, in this blog, MuleFactory will be providing you with a guide on one of the most effective formations within EAFC25  Ultimate Team, the 4-2-2-2.

4-2-2-2 Overview

The 4-2-2-2 is one of the most effective attacking formations in EAFC, however, it is a formation that requires a high amount of skill to master. The 4-2-2-2 is arguably the best pressing formation within EAFC 25 Ultimate Team, the ways that you can use this formation focus around a high press attacking mindset, however, using the 4-2-2-2 can sometimes leave you vulnerable to counter attacks.

The 4-2-2-2 offers a no-nonsense approach to FC and as a result, can be the ideal formation if you're looking for more goals within EAFC25 Ultimate Team.

4-2-2-2 Tactics

As mentioned in all of our other guides, Custom Tactics play a vital role in FC and if you fail to utilise them, your opponents will be able to take advantage of this.

You must ensure that you set up 3 different sets of Custom Tactics. One for any time of the game, one when you want to hold onto a lead, and one to regain the lead. As mentioned, the 4-2-2-2 can leave you vulnerable to conceding as it's a formation that works well when adopted as a high-pressing formation. In this guide however, we'll show you some general Tactics as a starting point and then you can expand from there.

Starting with your Defense Tactic, you'll ideally want to set your Defensive Style to Balanced. When defending with this tactic you will often use the High Press setting once in game by selecting it using the DPAD. We start with a Balanced Defensive Style so you can turn this pressing option on and off to suit what you may need through the game.

Set your Defensive Width to 5 and your Defensive Depth to 5. You can play around with these settings, however, these settings will allow you to defend efficiently. If you are someone that struggles to defend in EAFC 25, you may want to set your Defensive Depth slightly lower, however, you will be pressing a lot with this formation.

Moving over to your Offense Tactic, you'll want to set your Offense Style to Long Ball. Due to the nature of this formation, you will want to transition quickly from your side of the pitch to your opponents. Setting this Tactic to Long Ball will ensure that your players move forward as you regain possession from your opponent.

Set your Offense Width to 5 and your Players in Box to 5. We're committing 5 players forward by doing this which will enable you to score a lot of goals past your opponent. We set the Width of the team quite balanced to ensure that we remain in possession of the ball.

When choosing your players for this formation, you'll ideally want the best that you can afford, however, you should prioritise your budget on top-tier Center Attacking Midfielders who will act as your Ball Winning Midfielders, and will help you regain possession of the ball in higher areas.

All of your Forward players should consist of high Pace Stat players as well as high Passing Stat players.

4-2-2-2 Instructions

When using any formation in EAFC 25, you must set individual Instructions for your players. Instructions tell your players what to do when defending or attacking and are a crucial part of FIFA.

Similar to our other Tactic guides your backline will consist of a Goalkeeper and 4 Defenders, you'll want to leave your Goalkeeper's Instructions default. Likewise for your two Central Defenders.

Moving into your Left-Back and Right-Backs, you'll want to ensure that their Attacking Runs are set to Stay Back Whilst Attacking whilst all other Instructions are set to default.

In the Centre Defensive Midfield positions, you'll want to change quite a few of your Instructions on both of these players. For both of these players, the Attacking Support Stay Back Whilst Attacking and Defensive Position should be set to Cover Center as these players will help you regain possession of the ball when you lose possession and act as an initial defense when you are without possession of the ball.

For the other players in the midfield, you should set their Defensive Support to Come Back On Defence. Once you play with this formation, you'll be able to play around with these settings as you see fit.

Finally, your two Strikers should have their Support Runs, Attacking Runs and Interceptions set to default, whilst Defensive Support to be set to Stay Forward.

How To Use the 4-2-2-2 in EAFC25

When playing with the 4-2-2-2, you should be looking to be as clinical as possible when in front of goal. This formation flourishes when you press your opponent and adopt a direct style of play. The aim of this formation is to press your opponent in their half and then hit them on the attack as quickly as possible.

Utilising your wide Center Attacking Midfielders in this formation is also very effective. As we are opting for midfielders who have a high Pace Stat, using long through balls down the wings can cut your opponents open, once in behind you should look to use skill-moves to force your opponent into a mistake and get the ball into the box.

Overall, the 4-2-2-2 is a very effective formation when used correctly but you will need to invest in some of the best players to string more and more wins together.
