If you've watched any of the FIFA 19 eSports before, you'll know that the best FIFA players usually have the best teams in Ultimate Team. Filled with the creme de la creme of Ultimate Team, all of this is about to change.
Currently, there are no restrictions to what players can be used at these events. And at any event previously, each account that players use will have all players in Ultimate Team available to them. Without restrictions on which cards can be used in these tournaments, there is a disparity between the cards that you see in each game played.
The difference between some teams can actually be quite surprising. Regardless of the fact that all players are usable in these tournaments, patterns usually emerge with the team that are being used and it ultimately comes down to, who's spent the most, and who hasn't.
The problem with this is, that as a viewer, the variation in teams can be quite minimal. Most of the top teams will only have one player difference which can be quite boring.
What's the solution?
In a recent statement by EA, the company announced that they would be adding restrictions for the remaining two events of the year. As a result, pro FIFA players, won't be able to use the best teams in FIFA at the events meaning that it will be an equal playing field and those who are the better FIFA players will win more games, not just those who have the best teams.
The new rules mean you can only include a maximum of two Icon cards, a maximum of one 95+-rated non-Icon player, and a maximum of two 90-94-rated non-Icon players in your team. All other players must be rated 89 or lower.
Overall the community is happy with this decision. The community feels that this will provide balance going into the later events of the year. The change will also provide more entertainment for viewers, meaning that different teams will be used by the pros, rather than just the overpowered ones.
However, not everyone within the community finds the new change a positive one. With some pros going as far to say that the new change is "backwards". Some think that the new change places too many restrictions on the game when there shouldn't be.
One pro FIFA player by the name of Pessoa said: "We've had a long gap between qualifiers so players may have now decided to invest some money to bolster their squad,"
Pessoa continued, "are you going to give them the money they spent back? You throw this curveball when we are in March it's useless."
The changes are due to go out before the next pro FIFA event, regardless of the concerns of those who will be taking part.
Regardless of these restrictions in the pro scene, there doesn't seem to be any change for the competitive game mode that has gotten so many to these events, meaning that, if you want to build the best team available you're more than welcome to.
