Path of Exile 2 Is About to Feel Better Than Ever

2025.05.17

For anyone still exploring Path of Exile 2 or thinking about jumping back in, there’s a new update on the horizon that could make the game feel a lot smoother to play. Grinding Gear Games is rolling out patch 0.2.0h soon, and it’s focused on areas that needed some cleanup, especially in the endgame.

Anyone who spends serious time in Path of Exile knows how important the endgame is. It’s where characters really come to life and where most of the long-term goals sit. The next update is zeroing in on parts of that experience that just haven’t been hitting right.

One example is Breach. Right now, it can feel disappointing when too few enemies show up or when it ends before anything exciting happens. The update will make Breaches more intense and consistent, and splinters will now drop in bigger piles. That means less time clicking and more time playing. It's a simple fix, but one that’ll be felt immediately.

Another improvement deals with Rogue Exiles. They can blend into the chaos during fights, and the game is now adjusting their visuals so they’re easier to spot. Azmerian Wisps, which boost enemies, are getting some balancing too. When two appear at once, it can feel messy and unfair. The update will tweak how they behave so fights feel more controlled and less frustrating.

Outside of combat, there are some really welcome quality-of-life changes. Players will soon be able to spend currency on Strongboxes and Essences directly through the UI without having to open them first. It sounds small, but it cuts down on extra steps and keeps the flow going, especially during long sessions. Even Vaal Orbs can be used this way on Essences now, which opens up more crafting options without the old hassle.

Loot filters are also getting smarter. Many players use them to deal with the flood of drops, and the update will let you filter out low-tier magic and rare items, even if they’re unidentified. It should make sorting through gear much faster and less tedious.

On top of that, two new stash tabs are coming. One is made for Ritual content and holds items like Omens and Audience rewards. The other is built for socketable items like Runes and Talismans, and even lets you upgrade Runes right inside the tab. Both are expected to be premium, so you’ll likely need to buy them with points, but for those who engage with those systems a lot, the convenience will probably be worth it.

Private leagues are also being introduced, giving players a way to start their own isolated economies with friends or just for solo play. For now, the feature will be handled through the original Path of Exile site, but it’s a step toward giving more control to players who want a fresh, self-contained experience without the wider trade market.

The patch is planned to go live by May 16, and the developers mentioned a few more improvements are coming that haven’t been revealed yet. If you’ve been waiting for PoE 2 to smooth out some of its edges, this update is looking like a solid step forward.

Whether you're a returning player or someone who's been grinding through the current season, the changes aim to make everything feel more refined, less clunky, and more rewarding. Keep an eye out for when it drops—it could be the update that pulls you right back in.
