Grinding Gear Games has announced a special event for Path of Exile 1 to bridge the gap while waiting for the delayed 3.26 League. This comes after the studio confirmed that the next PoE League has been postponed due to their primary focus on Path of Exile 2 and its upcoming updates. Instead of leaving players with an extended version of the current League, the developers have devised a fresh experience that introduces an experimental twist to the game’s core mechanics.

The Reason of the Delay
The delay of Path of Exile 1’s next League is a result of the studio redirecting its development resources toward Path of Exile 2, which has been in early access since last year. While the sequel saw massive success with over a million copies sold on its first day, it also requires continuous refinement and new content updates. At the moment, the developers are working on the 0.2.0 content update, which has taken priority over the next expansion for the original game.
This shift in focus has left Path of Exile 1 players in a difficult situation, as the Settlers of Kalguur League has now been running for an unprecedented seven months. Traditionally, Leagues last around three to four months before being replaced with fresh content, but this cycle has been severely disrupted. As a result, players have been stuck in the same content far longer than expected, leading to growing frustration within the community. Fortunately, this stagnation is finally coming to an end, with the arrival of the PoE Event now imminent.

The One Month Event
Rather than simply prolonging the current PoE League, Grinding Gear Games has taken a different approach by introducing a month-long event that experiments with new ideas. The event revolves around a radical change to the game’s Ascendancy system, which has been a fundamental part of the game for years.
Instead of the nineteen traditional Ascendancy Classes, players will be able to choose from an entirely new set of nineteen Ascendancies. This shake-up could lead to completely different playstyles and mechanics.
This event originated from ideas that never made it past the brainstorming phase, but with the delay of 3.26, the studio has decided to bring them to life.
