Path of Exile 3.26 Adds a Brand New Map Storage System

2025.06.18

Secrets of the Atlas is around the corner, and Path of Exile is not only expanding its endgame story and systems but also improving players' interaction with the daily grind of high-level PoE mapping. One of the most practical and thoughtful additions in update 3.26 is a new storage feature, which is built specifically for players who like to plan, craft, and run PoE Maps in bulk.

Mapping is a big part of Path of Exile’s identity, especially once players move into the later stages of the Atlas. Over the years, the system has become increasingly complex, with scarabs, fragments, and map crafting all layered on top of one another. For casual players, that might be a manageable challenge, but for high-end players who want to craft dozens of Path of Exile Maps in one go, it becomes hard to maintain. It is an entire workflow that takes time, organization, and a lot of clicking through stash tabs.

Path of Exile’s new update’s storage panel addition solves that. It acts as a small, dedicated inventory where Path of Exile Maps and related components can be stored and prepared ahead of time. Instead of loading maps one by one from multiple stash tabs or inventories, players will be able to have a full batch of pre-crafted content ready to go. Once a session begins, everything needed for each map is already in place, which helps eliminate downtime and keeps the rhythm of farming uninterrupted.

The feature is aimed primarily at players who build their sessions around efficiency. Some like to craft a single map and run it right away. Others prefer to prep a long list of maps, optimize each one with scarabs and fragments, and then run them back-to-back without stopping. For those players, the new storage system is a major quality-of-life upgrade. It removes the repetitive clicking and reorganizing that used to break the flow between runs.

Mark Roberts, Game Director for Path of Exile, recently explained the thinking behind the change. While the system works for anyone, it’s clearly made with endgame-oriented exiles in mind. The ones who run twenty or more PoE Maps in one sitting, crafting in bulk and trading for the right modifiers beforehand. For them, any friction between runs is time lost, and the new system helps smooth that out.

Even so, the panel isn’t limited to elite players. It can be useful to anyone. Keeping the next few maps on hand in a clean, accessible spot just makes sense, regardless of experience level. Instead of having to scroll through multiple tabs or worry about misplacing scarabs, players have a spot where their next steps are already laid out.

It may not be the flashiest part of Secrets of the Atlas, but for a large part of the player base, it might be surprisingly useful. High-end mapping in Path of Exile is all about maintaining momentum. Once that flow is broken, it can be hard to get back into it. By cutting down on interruptions and helping players organize their sessions better, the new storage system makes farming smooth, efficient, and more organized.

With update 3.26, Grinding Gear Games is showing that attention to detail still matters. Alongside new bosses and systems, it’s also about improving the game flow, especially for exiles who have been doing it for years. The storage panel is a small change on paper, but it’s going to have a real impact on the efficiency and enjoyability of your journey through the Atlas.
