PoE 3.29 Cursed Ducats Guide: How to Unlock and Use All Six

2026.08.30

Patch 3.29.3 expands Curse of the Allflame with six Cursed Ducats that give experienced players greater control over the difficulty of Charts and Voyages. These items are placed into dedicated sockets within the Voyage Planner on The Sovereign. Every active Cursed Ducat strengthens monsters through additional Toughness while increasing the Quantity and Rarity of the items that they drop. Each Ducat also applies its own monster modifier, so choosing the correct combination depends heavily on the defensive structure and damage profile of the character. A build that handles elemental penetration comfortably may struggle against additional projectiles, while another character may have excellent protection against Critical Strikes and find the Eucarid Isle modifier manageable. The first Cursed Ducat becomes available after defeating Velka. Players who defeated Velka before patch 3.29.3 can collect their first Ducat from Valerie aboard The Sovereign. Once a Cursed Ducat is socketed, additional versions can appear from specific monsters and objects within Charts and Voyages. This creates a gradual endgame system where stronger characters can increase difficulty in stages. Understanding each modifier before activating it is essential because three Cursed Ducats can turn ordinary Voyage monsters into significantly stronger opponents while greatly increasing the potential item output of the entire expedition.

What Cursed Ducats Do in PoE 3.29
Cursed Ducats function as socketable modifiers for the Voyage Planner. Path of Exile 3.29.3 introduces six versions, and a player can activate a maximum of three at the same time. Every active Ducat applies the same core statistical increase to monsters within Charts and Voyages. One Ducat grants monsters 50% increased Toughness, 20% increased Item Quantity, and 20% increased Item Rarity. Two active Ducats raise those values to 100% Toughness, 40% Quantity, and 40% Rarity. Three active Ducats reach 150% Toughness, 60% Quantity, and 60% Rarity. Toughness increases the amount of effective damage that enemies can withstand, so combat takes longer as additional Ducats become active. The Quantity and Rarity increases improve the item output from monsters throughout the affected areas. Every Cursed Ducat also adds one specialised difficulty modifier. These modifiers include increased monster damage, elemental resistance penetration, stronger Critical Strikes, additional elemental damage, extra projectiles, larger area effects, and increased action speed. This structure gives players control over the type of danger that accompanies the higher item output. A strong combination matches Ducat penalties with defensive strengths that already exist on the character.

How to Unlock Your First Cursed Ducat
The first Cursed Ducat comes from Velka, the Tide Witch. Defeating Velka gives access to the initial Ducat and opens the larger Cursed Ducat system. Players who completed the Velka fight earlier in Curse of the Allflame do not need to repeat the entire requirement. Valerie, who is located aboard The Sovereign, provides the first Cursed Ducat to characters that already satisfy the Velka condition. After obtaining it, open the Voyage Planner and place the Ducat into one of its three dedicated sockets. From that point onward, subsequent Cursed Ducats can appear from particular monsters and objects while running Charts or Voyages with an active Cursed Ducat. This requirement means the first item acts as the gateway to obtaining the rest of the set. Players who want all six should keep at least one Ducat active during relevant Allflame content. The first guaranteed option is the Ducat of Tsoatha’s Gift, which applies a straightforward monster damage increase. It offers a useful introduction to the system because its danger is easy to understand. After testing the effect on several Charts, players can decide if their character is ready to search for additional versions and increase the number of active sockets.

How Cursed Ducat Bonuses Stack
All three core modifiers stack according to the number of Ducats that are active. This makes the system easy to scale gradually. One active socket provides the lowest difficulty increase and gives players a chance to evaluate their build against stronger enemies. The second socket doubles the shared modifiers, while the third reaches the maximum possible combination of 150% additional Toughness, 60% Item Quantity, and 60% Item Rarity. The important decision comes from clear speed and survivability. Additional Quantity has limited practical value when enemies take so long to kill that the number of completed Charts drops heavily. The same applies when a modifier creates frequent deaths during expensive Voyages. Powerful characters with high damage can absorb the Toughness increase more comfortably because their baseline clear speed remains high. Characters with moderate damage may gain better overall results from one or two active Ducats. Players should evaluate each step through several runs before activating another socket. Boss damage also deserves attention because Toughness affects enemies throughout the content. A build that clears ordinary packs quickly can still struggle against tougher rare monsters or bosses. Efficient use comes from finding the highest Ducat count that the character can clear consistently without creating excessive combat time.

Ducat of Tsoatha’s Gift
Ducat of Tsoatha’s Gift is the first Cursed Ducat that players receive through Velka. Its specialised modifier causes monsters to deal 50% increased damage. This is a direct offensive increase that affects incoming hits across the entire Chart or Voyage. Characters with strong Armour, Evasion, Energy Shield, recovery, block, spell suppression, Endurance Charges, and high maximum resistances can handle the increase more reliably. Builds that already operate close to their defensive limit should test this Ducat carefully before using it on an expensive Voyage. The advantage of Tsoatha’s Gift comes from its predictable nature. It does not alter enemy projectile count, action speed, Critical Strike behaviour, or elemental resistance interaction. Every damaging action simply becomes more dangerous. This makes the modifier easier to evaluate through normal gameplay. If ordinary enemies remain manageable and dangerous rares still die quickly, Tsoatha’s Gift can become a stable first socket. Players can then add another Ducat after confirming that the character has enough defensive headroom. Characters with strong recovery after taking a hit can often use this option comfortably, provided large individual attacks do not reach lethal thresholds.

Ducat of the Undead Sea
Ducat of the Undead Sea causes monsters to penetrate 10% of the player’s Elemental Resistances. Elemental penetration increases the effective damage of Fire, Cold, and Lightning attacks against characters that rely heavily on capped resistances. Builds with high maximum Elemental Resistances, large Energy Shield pools, strong recovery, spell suppression, and additional elemental mitigation can often handle this modifier effectively. The danger depends on the types of enemies that appear within the current Chart or Voyage. Areas with heavy elemental spell pressure can become significantly more dangerous when penetration is active. Players should also review existing Chart modifiers before adding Undead Sea because several elemental damage modifiers can combine into severe incoming damage. Characters with strong elemental defences may still consider this one of the more manageable choices. Physical-focused enemy groups create fewer opportunities for the penetration modifier to increase incoming damage. The Ducat works especially well when the character already has multiple defensive layers that apply after resistance calculations. Testing should begin with ordinary Charts before using it on a long Voyage with several difficult border modifiers. If elemental hits remain controlled, Undead Sea can become a dependable member of a three-Ducat setup.

Ducat of the Eucarid Isle
Ducat of the Eucarid Isle greatly increases monster Critical Strike power. Monsters gain 500% increased Critical Strike Chance and 50% increased Critical Strike Multiplier while this Ducat is active. This can produce sudden damage spikes, which makes the modifier particularly dangerous for characters that have limited protection against Critical Strikes. Builds with reduced extra damage from Critical Strikes, strong Armour, high effective health, reliable block, or defensive mechanics that reduce large hits can use the Ducat more safely. Characters that rely on evasion can avoid many attacks, although a successful Critical Strike can still create a dangerous burst of damage. Eucarid Isle deserves careful testing before it becomes part of a fully empowered Voyage. Existing modifiers that increase monster damage, attack speed, cast speed, or elemental damage can amplify its effect considerably. Combining it with Tsoatha’s Gift produces stronger Critical Strikes on enemies that already deal more damage. Combining it with Fallen Stars creates another dangerous interaction because the increased elemental damage can also participate in high-damage Critical Strikes. Players with dedicated Critical Strike mitigation gain a clear advantage here. For many other builds, Eucarid Isle will remain one of the final Ducats to consider when moving toward three active sockets.

Ducat of the Fallen Stars
Ducat of the Fallen Stars gives monsters 100% of their Physical Damage as extra damage from a random element. This dramatically increases damage from enemies whose abilities begin with a strong Physical Damage component. The added portion can become Fire, Cold, or Lightning Damage, which places pressure on elemental defences alongside physical mitigation. Armour alone cannot answer the complete threat because the added elemental portion follows a different defensive calculation. Strong Elemental Resistances, maximum resistance increases, spell suppression, block, and broad damage reduction become important when this Ducat is active. Fallen Stars can be especially dangerous when it appears alongside other modifiers that strengthen physical attacks or elemental damage. Players should inspect the full Voyage before committing valuable Charts. Characters with balanced protection against both physical and elemental damage can use this option more comfortably than characters whose defence focuses heavily on a single damage type. The random elemental component also makes individual enemy attacks less predictable. A strong defensive setup should cover all three elemental resistances consistently. Fallen Stars offers the same shared Quantity and Rarity bonus as every other Cursed Ducat, so its value depends entirely on how efficiently the character can absorb the added damage pressure.

Ducat of the Grasping Deep
Ducat of the Grasping Deep gives monsters two additional projectiles and 40% increased Area of Effect. This modifier changes the amount of space that enemy abilities can cover and can make projectile-heavy sections considerably more dangerous. Extra projectiles increase the number of attacks that travel through the area, while increased Area of Effect enlarges many explosions, ground effects, slams, and spell zones. Characters that rely on careful positioning need to account for the reduced amount of safe space during combat. Strong mobility becomes extremely useful because movement skills can quickly relocate the character when several projectiles or large area effects overlap. Projectile avoidance, Evasion, Block, and high movement speed can reduce the practical danger. Melee PoE builds may find the increased area more difficult because they spend more time close to enemies, while ranged characters can maintain greater distance and react earlier. Grasping Deep becomes particularly dangerous when combined with high monster action speed because more projectiles can arrive in shorter intervals. It can still be an effective choice for builds that have excellent movement and strong avoidance. Players should test dense areas first because projectile overlap becomes more visible when several monsters attack simultaneously.

Ducat of the Foul Kin
Ducat of the Foul Kin increases monster Attack Speed, Cast Speed, and Movement Speed by 50%. This changes the pace of combat dramatically. Enemies reach the character faster, attack more frequently, cast spells at shorter intervals, and leave less time for reaction between abilities. PoE Builds that rely on kiting can find the movement increase challenging because monsters close distance much faster. Characters with strong crowd control, Chill, Temporal Chains, high movement speed, block, Evasion, or instant damage can manage the modifier more effectively. Foul Kin also increases the danger of existing monster abilities without directly changing their numerical damage. An enemy that normally casts a dangerous spell every few moments can produce it considerably more often. Rare monsters with strong offensive modifiers become especially important targets because their faster actions can create sustained pressure. The Ducat works best for characters that kill quickly and prevent enemies from maintaining long attack sequences. High burst damage can remove dangerous targets before their speed becomes a major problem. Players should be cautious when combining Foul Kin with Grasping Deep because faster attacks and additional projectiles can fill large portions of the area very quickly.

Choosing the Best Three Cursed Ducats
The strongest combination depends on the character’s defensive structure. A build with high Critical Strike mitigation can consider Eucarid Isle more comfortably, while a character with exceptional elemental defence may prefer Undead Sea or Fallen Stars. Mobile ranged characters can often handle Grasping Deep more easily than slower melee characters. Tsoatha’s Gift gives a direct damage increase that can work well for characters with strong general mitigation. Foul Kin becomes easier when the build has excellent clear speed, crowd control, and movement. The safest approach starts with one modifier that matches an existing defensive strength. Run several Charts, watch how rare monsters and bosses behave, then add the second Ducat. The third socket should come after the build demonstrates enough damage to handle 100% additional Toughness without excessive slowdown. Full activation reaches 150% Toughness, so the final step requires considerably stronger damage output. Players should also inspect Chart modifiers because combinations can multiply danger. A harmless Ducat in one area can become severe when a Chart adds a matching offensive modifier. Efficient selection comes from judging the complete run as one package and choosing three penalties that the build already has tools to control.

How to Farm the Remaining Cursed Ducats
Once the first Cursed Ducat is active, additional versions can appear from specific monsters and objects within Voyages and Charts. Grinding Gear Games designed this requirement so that the system expands after the player begins using it. Current discovered sources connect individual Ducats to different parts of seafloor content. Ducat of the Eucarid Isle is associated with Captainsbane, while Ducat of the Grasping Deep comes from Filthscrabble. Ducat of the Fallen Stars has been linked with relevant seafloor enemies, and Ducat of the Foul Kin can appear through seafloor content. Players who want the complete collection should keep a Cursed Ducat socketed while running a broad variety of Charts and Voyages. Special monsters deserve priority because several Ducats have dedicated sources. Longer Voyage sessions also expose the character to a wider range of objects and enemy types. Once additional Ducats appear, store them until their modifiers fit a planned setup. There is no need to activate three immediately. Building the full collection provides flexibility, allowing the character to switch combinations according to the current Voyage, defensive setup, and Chart modifiers.

Closing Thoughts
Cursed Ducats give Path of Exile 3.29 players a powerful new way to scale Charts and Voyages after patch 3.29.3. The system begins with Velka, who unlocks the first Cursed Ducat, while Valerie provides the item retroactively to characters that completed the fight before the patch. Additional Ducats can then appear from selected monsters and objects while at least one Cursed Ducat is active. Up to three can be placed in the Voyage Planner, with every socket adding 50% monster Toughness, 20% Item Quantity, and 20% Item Rarity. The six versions create very different dangers. Tsoatha’s Gift increases monster damage, Undead Sea adds elemental penetration, Eucarid Isle strengthens Critical Strikes, Fallen Stars grants extra elemental damage from physical damage, Grasping Deep adds projectiles and Area of Effect, and Foul Kin increases Attack, Cast, and Movement Speed. Choosing the correct three comes down to understanding which threats the character can handle efficiently. Players who scale gradually can find a reliable balance between stronger monsters and higher item output. Start with one Ducat, evaluate clear speed and survival across several runs, add a second when the content remains comfortable, and reserve three-Ducat Voyages for characters that can manage 150% additional Toughness without sacrificing consistent clears.
