FIFA 26 Introduces an Open World Experience

2025.12.13

A video from EA Sports FC 26 has given fans their first real look at the game's upcoming open-world mode, and it already looks like something very different from anything EA has done before.

People who've seen the early test say the mode starts in a huge futuristic hub that is shaped like a football. From there, players can explore different districts, including stores, parks, football pitches, and social hangouts. It's clearly inspired by NBA 2K's MyPLAYER mode, but with a football twist.

You'll be able to create your own player, live in an apartment, buy outfits, and drive cars around the city. The in-game money is called fc 26 Club Coin, which you'll use to customize your look or grab gear from in-game shops. There are also several side activities to try, with early testers mentioning six minigames: Kickabouts, Draw the Line, Rush, Closest to the Pin, Balloon Ball, and Foot Tennis. They're small, skill-based FC challenges, and you can play them alone or with friends.

It's not just about football either. You'll be able to walk around, explore, chat, or even just watch other matches in the world. That kind of social space could give FC 26 a more relaxed, community-driven side—something players have been asking for since FIFA's days.

The city of the mode seems to be a mix of sport culture and calm rural village. There are areas full of energy, such as training grounds, fan zones, and interactive buildings, as well as peaceful areas with trees and rivers. EA seems to want to create an environment where football isn't the main event but rather a component of it.

Currently, the open world mode is still being tested privately, and EA hasn't made any official announcements. But if it works as described, it could be the series' biggest step forward in years.

Players could take their time building their FC 26 character, interacting with others online, or just exploring instead of diving right into matches. It's a novel strategy that might at last give FC a sense of vitality and community.

There's no confirmed release date yet, but insiders believe EA might introduce it sometime around 2026. If they pull it off, this could become the feature that defines the future of football games—a living world where football meets everyday life, and every player's story feels a little bit different.
