If you’ve ever spent hours grinding in Path of Exile 2 and wondered why you’ve never seen some of the coolest PoE 2 items in the game, you’re not alone. The team at Grinding Gear Games just admitted that PoE 2 Mythic Uniques basically impossible to find. They’re now making some big changes to fix that.
But why is it nearly impossible to get your hand on one of the Mythic Uniques? Because of the way the loot system works. In PoE 2, when the game rolls for a unique Item to drop, it first decides what type of Path of Exile 2 Item it will be, like a sword, amulet, or gloves. Only then does it pick which specific unique item in that category drops. That sounds fine at first, but it made some items nearly nonexistent. Here is one example the devs shared: The Mythic version of Astramentis was over 47,000 times rarer than a PoE 2 Divine Orb. No one’s farming that without losing their mind.
So now, they're scrapping the “item class” roll completely. That means the game can just drop any Unique PoE 2 Item outright, without needing to first pass through another filter. That alone makes the rare stuff much more likely to show up.
They’re also updating the rarity scaling. As you go deeper into high-rarity PoE 2 Maps, common uniques will start to appear less, and the chances for Uncommon, Rare, and Mythic PoE items will go up. That change should make farming feel more exciting for players pushing harder content.
On top of that, they’re simply adding more Mythic Uniques to the game. A few of the new ones have already been teased, like a reworked Lioneye’s Glare bow, The Last Lament crossbow, and a new endgame quiver called PoE 2 Cadiro’s Gambit.
It’s a smart move. People want to feel like they have a shot at cool gear, even if the odds are low. Making those odds slightly better and giving players more control over farming make PoE 2’s endgame really top tier.
