EA has rolled out a new update for EA Sports FC 26, and while it's not a massive overhaul, it fixes a bunch of little things that were starting to annoy players. The patch mainly focuses on making the matches smoother, fixing some bugs, and improving goalkeepers so they finally behave the way they should.
Gameplay Updates
Tackles now work properly again. Some PlayStyles, like Bruiser, were acting strange before: players just wouldn't engage the way they should. That's been sorted out. Defenders also move in a more natural way now because EA rolled back a change that had made defensive positioning weird in Authentic Gameplay mode.
Finesse Shots have also been fixed. The ball used to curl in the wrong direction or turn into a Trivela shot when you didn't want it to. Now, it goes where you aim. Blocking looks better too, because defenders don't stop halfway through their animation anymore. It now cleaner and more natural when you're playing.
Goalkeepers Make More Sense
Goalies got a big boost with this update. They react faster, face the right way after saves, and move into position quicker during crosses. Manual saves are easier to time, and the automatic positioning became smarter. It's a noticeable change; you'll see fewer awkward moments where the keeper just stands there doing nothing.
Small updates
In FC 26 Ultimate Team, if you turn off stadium shadows, your matches will now take place at night. It sounds small, but it helps with visibility. There was also a glitch with Evolution FIFA 26 Cards not showing up correctly in the menus; that's gone too.
Club players will be happy to know the annoying “connection to lobby lost” message has finally been fixed. Finding League Matches should be smoother now.
Career Mode also got a bit of love. Contract messages show up properly again, and you can actually respond to transfer offers after requesting a move.
A few visual and stability tweaks
You'll now see the Game Type on the pre-match screen in Kick Off mode, which makes things clearer before the match starts. On PC, the resolution settings finally save when you switch between windowed and full screen. EA also says it's fixed several stability issues, which should mean fewer crashes overall.
Although the game is still in its early stages and many features have yet to be revealed, the EA team has already identified the first issues and fixed them quickly. Over the next few months, several similar updates are expected to arrive, making life on the pitch even better.
