In Path of Exile 2, building your gear is super important if you want a strong character. One of the things you need for that is Regal Shards. They let you upgrade your Magic PoE 2 Items into Rare ones by transforming them into the valuable PoE 2 Regal Orb — but getting them isn’t always easy. Where to Get Regal Shards
First way is just killing enemies. Pretty much anything you kill can drop PoE 2 Regal Shards, but the chance is really low. Bosses and elite monsters have a better shot at dropping them, but even then it is not something you will see all the time. You kind of have to accept that it is based on luck.
If you want to speed it up a bit, it helps to go back to old zones where the enemies are way below your level. You can clear them faster and find more elites. A good spot for this is Trial of the Sekhemas. There are lots of elites packed together, so it is easy farming.

Another way to get Regal Shards is by breaking down Rare Path of Exile 2 Items. There are 3 NPCs you can talk to for this:

• Una in Clearfell Encampment
• Zarka in the Ardura Caravan
• Servi in Ziggurat Encampment

When you give them Rare gear, they will give you Regal Shards. Most items give you one shard. If you find a Rare with six mods, you get two shards, which is the real deal. Picking up every Rare you find is a good habit if you want more shards without just hoping for random drops.
Honestly, the best way is to do both. Farm enemies, collect Rares, and then break down what you do not need.

What the Shards Really for
Ten Regal Shards combine to form the holy grail of crafting, the PoE 2 Regal Orb. Using it on any Magic item transforms it into a Rare one and adds another mod. If you're lucky, it might just roll the perfect stats for your pro endgame gear.

As the game progresses, you’ll need a bunch of them, so it’s a good idea to always grab shards when you can. You’ll thank yourself later because they might be the key to your next big upgrade.
