It's that time of the year again, when a new league is coming to Path of Exile. This time around, we are dealing with Path of Exile: Ultimatum, which is actually bringing in some cool ideas into the mix. This time around, we must go through the trials of chaos and choose whether we want to risk things in order to get the ultimate power. Do you have what it takes to do that and how far are you willing to go in order to achieve the best experience?
This expansion comes with the Path of Exile: Ultimatum challenge league, it has Vaal skill improvements, eight new skills and support gems, but also a past league reward system overhaul. It's also offering a lot of interesting new items too. It's quite packed, as always, and it can bring in front an immersive, fun experience for you to cherish.
The Trials of Chaos
These trials of chaos will require you to make sacrifices and figure out how much you are willing to go in order to win. It might not seem that much, but it's definitely offering a very interesting experience and the gameplay is super engaging. There are a lot of changes to the difficulty, and the game itself is getting a lot harder than before. But then again, you also have some interesting benefits and improvements, which all add up to make the game more rewarding and engaging all the time.
What does it mean to risk it all?
What that means in Path of Exile: Ultimatum is that you will have the Trialmaster that gives you a reward and a challenge that has 3 difficulty modifiers that you can choose from. You enter the trial and if you win, you will be able to claim the reward. However, you will also have an ultimatum, you either accept the spoils or go for another challenge where you can get better rewards.
The game is constantly testing you and it tries to find new ways to push the gameplay and immerse you into the experience more than you imagine. But as you can imagine, if you lose the trial, then you use all the hard work. You really need to know when to stop and when the challenges are too hard. It's a pretty cool idea and one that helps push the experience to the next level. That alone makes this new league something cool and different. We like the fact that you can trade these spoils of war with other players. It just adds up to the experience and it makes things a lot more fun.
Getting the reward
The rewards are very impressive, they are exclusive to this particular league, and they are compatible even if you play as a party. What that means is that you get to have new rewards for every player. The team can also vote on what difficulty modifiers you want to use, and whether you want to risk as a team or not.
The Vaal Reliquary
You will get a key as you play and you can enter the reliquary thanks to it. This is a vault which has a variety of unique items. The items here are amazing, extremely powerful, so getting to the reliquary is not going to be easy. But that's the great thing about it, the fact that it's super engaging and a whole lot of fun to try and get those improved rewards. It will be well worth the effort every time. That alone makes the experience better than ever before.
Changing Blood for Power
Path of Exile: Ultimatum adds 8 new support and skill gems that are focused on the idea of exchanging life for power. That means you will have times when you are on low life. The game also has balanced Vaal skills, and the amount of souls acquired from unique enemies is a lot higher this time around, which is always a great thing to have.
Rewards are also improved, because the core drop pool has new currency items. That means act bosses are actually worth farming, since you can get a lot of cool stuff. Path of Exile: Ultimatum also has improvements to the Lord's Labyrinth rewards too.
Now you have great helmet enchantments, and there are 2 new unique items that are specific to it. The best part is that you can even consume an offering right for the goddess and then you will go to a random trial. The game is also adding new Delirium, Blight and Metamorph incubators. They also modernized other incubator rewards and they are adding the blight themed scarabs and there are 2 new catalysts too. Even the chests that are in the blighted maps are benefitting from the new item quantity value.Path of Exile: Ultimatum also has new beastcrafts, where you can add mods to maps or you can have influenced items. There are no possibilities to imprint items that were split however.
Path of Exile: Ultimatum also rebalances the perandus coin drops. These can be used to acquire even more items from Cadiro. You even have a rebalance for the essences, so they can be stronger. Within the new expansion are 4 new Abyss Jewels and they are the top option in the Abyss chests.
It's great to see that Path of Exile continues to receive support, and Ultimatum is definitely an interesting addition. It has a lot of reward improvements and fixes, which is what many players wanted in the first place. On top of that, they continue with the idea of bringing in even more support and assistance, which is always helpful.
Path of Exile: Ultimatum launches on April 16th and it's definitely a great new chapter in the PoE story. It manages to add up even more challenges for vetted players, while also bringing in new ways to test your skills. It's definitely a unique take, and one of those things that you want to check out right now!
