Path of Exile 2

Path of Exile has a wide selection of crafting materials, also known as currencies available to fine tune both your gear and maps. As the expansions came the options further inceased, making the currency options way too complex and confusing. We are going to go through the known currencies that will either see a change or won't make a return for Path of Exile 2.

In Path of Exile 2 some of the currencies have lost their meaning thanks to new systems or reworked implementations, this opened the door for less amount of currency options. While some of the currencies are already confirmed to either return or be absent, these changes are not final and we might see further updates.

The most popular currency, Divine Orb will see a return with the same effect, randomizing numerical values on your item.

Exalted Orb will also return in Path of Exile 2 with the same effect, it will add one random affix to your rare quality item. It will be used to finish your crafted item with the final affix.

Chaos Orb will only keep it's name, the fuction will be completely different. Instead of rerolling affixes on your item it will now remove one modifier and replace it with another random one.

Crafting a normal item to rare is now much more straightforward as Orb of Transmutation is less of a game of chance, but we will get to that, let's see how Regal Orb will affect our item.

Regal Orb returns with a twist, it will no longer just upgrade your magic item to rare, it will also add one random affix to it. The way to upgrade your item will now require the use of Orb of Transmutation and Orb of Augmentation, then you can apply a Regal Orb to have a 3 affix rare item.

This leads us to Orb of Transmutation which will only add one affix to your normal item, instead of a chance of two.

Same applies to Orb of Augmentation which will add one affix to your magic item.

Orb of Alchemy also sees a return but it now provides 4 affixes when you upgrade an item with it. In Path of Exile 1 it was just a random amount so this change will make Orb of Alchemy a more valuable option when it comes to upgrading your normal item.

Vaal Orb will also make a return but it's not yet known how exactly it will function. Rumors say that it now has a chance to corrupt your item, disabling further modifications, instead of being a guaranteed corrupt.

The following POE Currency items will not be returning to POE 2:

• Orb of Alteration
• Orb of Scouring
• Orb of Fusing
• Chromatic Orb
