Path of Exile 2 is coming soon and we are very excited to go through some key differences between Path of Exile 1 and Path of Exile 2. In this article you can find 4 major differences and reworks that will affect both your character builds, your journey and challenges that you will face.
Skill Gems bound to weapons
You will now find uncut gems in Path of Exile 2 that allows you to select any skill of your choice of the given tier. Some skills are also bound to specific weapon types so for example if there is a specific skill you are after, you will have to stick with a specific weapon type as long as you are building around that specific skill. This makes your weapon choice a very important decision as some of your skills will not work if you change the weapon type.
Socketing and Gear
In Path of Exile 2 skills are separated from your gear and you will no longer have to spend countless Orb of Fusings to get that sweet 6 link. With a new character you will have 9 skill slots that you can place Skill gems into with two support sockets. You can further increase these support sockets by using Jeweller's Orb.
Colored sockets also work differently in Path of Exile 2. They are now bound to your character's stats, which means if you are after more green sockets, you need to have more dexterity. Same happens in case of Red sockets with Strength or Blue sockets with Intelligence. By gaining more of these stats, you will be able to have colorized support sockets to further increase your skill gems.
These changes seem to be very straightforward, however it is not yet known how common the Jeweller's Orb will be. One thing is sure, you will be able to buy Path of Exile 2 Jeweller's Orb from our shop!
Flasks
Say goodbye to the button mashing that you used to do in Path of Exile 1. Flasks are no longer needed to be used preemptively, they now help you mitigate certain conditions that you already have. For example if you are already affected by poision and your health is ticking away, using the right flask with remove the poison effect. These flasks come with additional benefits but they only become active if you used the flask in the right time, removing a negative effect. In Path of Exile 2, Flasks will also regen much slower as they only get charges once you defeat magic and rare enemies, common enemies no longer recharge it.
Bosses
Bosses also received a rework, making them much more challenging and less trivial. Will these changes certainly come with a shift in difficulty, on the other hand you can now apply different crowd control effects on bosses that you may have seen in some other games such as Diablo 4. For example if your character is able to freeze normal enemies, you can now freeze bosses too, however it will take some time until you build up the effect but once you reach a certain threshold, the boss will falter and you will have a few seconds of burn window to land your spells easily.
We are really looking forward to see these changes once Path of Exile 2 launches. To make your journey easier, you will be able to buy Path of Exile 2 items from our store.
