The Basics of Building a FIFA UT Squad

2023.09.23

In the run-up to the release of EAFC24, there's no time better than now to start preparing for the new game. Over the next few weeks, there will be a complete overload on new content as people wait for the release date in September.

As a result, in this blog post, we'll be taking things back to basics. We'll be explaining the basics of FIFA 24 ultimate team in order to allow you to build the best team in FIFA 24. In addition, we'll be giving you the tools you'll need going forward into the new game and explaining everything that you need to know so you won't have to rely on external sources to ensure that you're the best at building squads in EAFC24.

FIFA cards can be broken down into 4 different categories. Bronze, silver, gold and special. These are all the different card types available within FIFA 24 ultimate team. The special card type in FIFA does, however, go a bit deeper than this, but we'll get to that later.

In addition to these 4 categories, FIFA cards may also be referred to as rare and non-rare. The explanation of which is pretty self-explanatory.

A bronze card in EAFC24 is the most basic form of a card. This is the lowest ranking card within the available cards within FIFA. At the start of FIFA, you'll receive a numerous amount of bronze packs which should be perfect for you to find your bearings with the new game.

Up next, we have silver cards, the middle point between bronze and gold cards. Silver cards are slightly harder to attain, however, this is to be expected as they are more usable within FIFA 24. Some silver cards may actually surprise you with some of the performances that the cards can put out.

Next, we have the highest level of basic card type within FIFA 24, the gold card. The gold card will typically be the most sought after card within the first couple of weeks of the game's launch.

Finally, we have special cards, but here's where things get slightly confusing. Remember earlier in this blog post when we mentioned about FIFA being a live game? Well, this is where special cards play a vital role in the life cycle of FIFA.

Special cards can be a number of different card types within FIFA. The most basic form of special card is the in-form item within FIFA. In-form cards are released each week depending on the players in real-life performance. For example, if a player performs well on the weekend, they'll probably receive an in-form item come the following Wednesday.

In addition to in-form items, a huge range of special cards will be released throughout the year. However, each year, it's unconfirmed what new special cards EA will release. In FIFA 20, we saw a number of new special cards be added to the game, such as Future Stars items and Road to the Final items. These were not available in any previous installments of FIFA.

At the start of EAFC24, prioritising buying good cards should be at the top of your list. This sounds so simple, and you probably think we mean just buying gold cards, however, this isn't the case.

Identifying your play style early on will enable you to make informed decisions regarding the players that will be in your team. For example, maybe you're new to FIFA so you're not sure where to start. Our advice would be to build from the back. Investing in good gold-rated defenders with high defensive stats early on will give you the competitive edge against your opponents.

This doesn't mean however you should just buy gold cards. There is a huge selection of hidden gems every year in FIFA, however, that's your job as a player to find them. Identifying your playing style can enable you to do this as you'll know exactly what you need to look for.

There are two elements to consider when thinking about chemistry in FIFA 24, team chemistry and individual chemistry. The values interact and produce a total value for your whole squad. Ideally, you'll want a chemistry rating of around 100 for your whole team, and individual chemistry of no less than 7 for each player. This will ensure that your team plays as well as it should. If these values are any less than stated, you'll see some issues arise within your team when you start to play with it. For example, passes will go astray, players may not play as well in addition to a myriad of other factors.

The higher the individual chemistry rating for each player, the higher your overall team chemistry will be.

In order to increase chemistry amongst your team, there are a number of things that you can do.

One important factor to keep in mind is the players going into your squad. FIFA rewards you for matching players within your squad with other players from the same club, nation, and league. Matching none of these will show a red line connecting the two players in the squad, meaning that no chemistry has been achieved. Matching one of these factors will show an orange line meaning that you've got good chemistry. However, the golden ticket is a green line and this can be achieved by matching two of these parameters.

However, the message from this blog post couldn't be more simple. Analyse the things you're good and bad at, begin to build your squad with players that are good in these areas that you struggle with and whatever you do, make sure the players in your team are linked by chemistry. The higher the chemistry, the better the team will perform.

Prioritising chemistry early on will be imperative to your success.
